Experimenting with stop-motion by moving the origami birds one by one

Simplified Lyrics

After debating the plot for our stop-motion, we decided to take Joe’s advice and looked back at our research and decided to over look the lyrics.

Marija read the lyrics throughly and simplified it by picking out the key sentences that stood out most.

We came up with this:

Another life,
Another mind,
Do the stars ever shine out for you?
Float down like autumn leaves,
And you’re miles away ,
And yesterday you were here with me.
Another tear,
Another cry,
Another light lost from your face,
How I miss you and I wish you’d stay,
Stay out and we’ll live forever now.

This helped us think of a more simple plot for our stop-motion, and after looking back at our research, we realized the plot wasn’t really that important, but the process was and how it attracted viewers.

After this we decided to put down ideas on what to put in the stop-motion and how we are going to do it.

I would say this has helped us for our stop-motion as now this is less stressful so we can only focus on the process.

Producing our Final Outcome

Thursday 9th June 2011:

Yasmine, Marija and Leanne was putting together all the clips for our final outcome, we used Final Cut Pro to put these all together.

Meanwhile, Bianca, Natasha and Deanna was experimenting with Photoshop. Bianca showed Natasha and Deanna how to edit photos of Marija and Yasmine. Inspired by a photographer Dan Mountain, Bianca edited a photo of Marija , as a double exposure and added some effects that represents Marija’s character in the plot. She did the same thing for Yasmine. Natasha and Deanna did the same thing , they edited two photos of Marija and Yasmine each. They have also uploaded all the work on tumblr and analysed it.

Friday 10th of June 2011:

We put the clips together and we made final adjustments as our final outcome is meant to be done by today and presented to our teacher and we made sure that out tumblr is up to date.

This is a picture that i have edited in photoshop of marija, i used 2 layers to look like double exposure, which i got inspired by the photographer Dan Mountford. Dan Mountford works with black and white images so i took the idea of using double exposure but using coloured picture. I have used bright colours because marija resembles “Day” and Yasmine resembles “Night”

White room

Our group booked out the white room, camera and tripod to finish filming. Me and Leanne set up the scene whilst Marj and Yasmine got changed, me and Leanne used the green screen as the back ground and we used a tree made out of wood, hung paper leaves and origami birds we didnt use real leaves, trees or bird because out stop motion is based on fantasy, dreams so this links with ‘fantasy’ as it isn’t real. Once we set the scene and yasmine and marj finished getting ready we set the lighting, tripod and camera up into the angle that looked the best. It started off with Yasmine and marj sitting together looking happy and smiling, once we finished that they both started looking through the photo album together of pictures of them. After that we made the origami birds move around marj and Yasmine by taking single shots of each of them. This turn out successful but was also very time consuming as it would only take up to at least 30 seconds of the video.
Tomorrow we’re going to start putting all the scenes together adding in some graphics also as me and bianca are the photographers we will be editing pictures of the models to add to our development this will also tell a story and go with the stopmotion.

Producing Final Outcome (PART 1)

Tuesday 31st May 2011

  • Marija ( Main Model)
  • Natasha
  • Leanne
  • Yasmine

We all gathered everyone to meet up at Romford to go to Rapaels Park. Only four people in our group has turned up. We looked at our equipment for this day, the equipment we had was:

  • Tripod
  • Digital Camera
  • Coloured Paper
  • Fishing Wire
  • Photo Album
  • Photos
  • Black Pen
  • Scissors
  • Clear Tape

We settled down in an area at the park, here’s what the location looked like:

After finding our location, we started setting up, so we stuck the photos in the albums (Marija & Leanne) and cutted our leaves out of paper to hang on the tree (Natasha & Yasmine)

Long Gone is a music produced by Fat City Reprise, the stop-motion was directed by Cesar Kuriyama and was taken by photographer, Tommy Agriodimas in December 2008.

This stop-motion starts off with an adolescence (Erin Hubbell) wearing a red dress, she beginning walking in the sunny forest, it is glowly so it could represent a flashback as the scene changes into an older woman (Kasia Cylc) roaming in her bedroom. As she looks out the window, she hears a sudden noise coming from her closet, curious, she opened it to find a doll sitting there. Fascinated by this doll as if she remembers this doll, she picks up the doll and embraces it. After spending time with the doll, she falls asleep, the doll awakens and begin to act suspiciously, he looks back at his friend, him being emotionless a he is a doll. But that’s when the tragedy begins, as the girl wake up she is now frighten by the doll and attempts to hide, but as she exits the door it turns out there are more of the dolls, now surrounding her as she screams. This ended back to the flash back as the girl is eyes are sadden, and the older girl looks at the camera, hinted that she is regretting what she’s done.

This video was about a girl struggling with herorin addicts, as the video first shown the flashback as her life being perfect, but now after she met the doll (Herorin) she got addicted to it and it began clouding up her mind and she couldn’t escape from it, now her life is ruined (opposed by the song).

The clip was taking by Nikon D200 DSLR and 45,000 Photographs was taken.
